Specifically, it comes from “auricula”, which can be translated as “little ear” and which is made up of two clearly differentiated parts:

The term atrium can be used in different settings. In the field of anatomy, the atrium is called the cavity that exists in the heart, where the blood from the blood vessels arrives.
Precisely if we take into account their etymological origin, we can say that these cavities of the aforementioned heart are thus called because they have the appearance of an ear.
Also known as atria, the atria in the human heart are two cavities that are located in the upper sector of the organ, above the ventricles.
Carbooxygenated blood, after traveling through the body, enters the right atrium of the heart through the vena cavae. This situation is dangerous in that it increases the risk of having a stroke. It must also be borne in mind that those who are most likely to suffer from fibrillation are people with these characteristics: – They
have problems with their weight, either because they are overweight or obese.
-They have type 2 diabetes.
-They have what is known as high blood pressure.
-No less relevant is that those who have health problems related to the thyroid also have risks.
-It should not be overlooked that, in the same way, those who have some type of heart disease or those who have an injury to what are the heart valves are more likely to suffer it.
It should be noted that the number of atria in the heart depends on the species. Mollusks, for example, have been found to have four atria, twice the number in the human heart. Therefore, it cannot be said that the heart, at a general level, has X number of atria, since the data is directly linked to the species.
For botany, the auricle is the extension of the lower region of the blade, the widest part of the leaves. It is a foliaceous-type lobe, which is located next to the petiole.
